If the manual hex editing fix is too complicated, there are several automatic tools out there. This is the one I used and I didn't have any issues. It works with both Asylum and City.

Just point it to your save file and let it do its thing. You MAY also need to relocate your save file, but generally you won't have to. If you do, the hex editing fix has the locations of the save files near the end. You can safely ignore the rest of that post. As always, back up your saves before doing anything to them.

Additionally if that doesn’t work then a simple console restart may fix the issue. So far people have reported that the issue doesn’t seem to go away with or without the latest patch. Users on Batman: Arkham City's official forums are posting widespread reports of their Xbox 360 save files being deleted without warning. The problem appears to be specific to the Xbox 360 version of the game, and reports range from six hours of progress lost to save files that were 80% complete.

Just wanted to add some insight into what's going on. GFWL is supposed to cease existing by July, if not sooner, that's why these games and Bioshock 2 have converted away from GFWL and securom where relevant.

So, to be clear, we would all at least be losing save progress at that time, if not game access entirely. Steam and the game developers are working together so that customers aren't left hanging by GFWL dying. They're giving DLC free to all owners with each game so far, and I'd be surprised if that didn't continue, as they've no way of knowing who owns what DLC via GFWL. Also, if you owned arkham city before the switch over, you now own the GOTY version (all DLC) and will almost certainly have to play that one, as the old one will ask for your CD key, and there isn't one. The old version is basically defunct.
