They said the local office will include this with the CableBox. I asked what about if you refused the self-install kit and they told me they will still charge you. Has anyone gotten TV service in the past few months experienced this? The guy waited until I finalized my order and was just quickly giving me a summary and quickly read over the part on the $15 self-install kit. This reminds me of when Sprint waited until you renewed your 2 year contract, picked out your new phone, gave all the information, ready to start service then was like, Oh one last thing, there is now a $10 surcharge for data on an Smart phone per phone per line.( Keep in mind that Data was suppose to already be included in the plan) What do you guys think about this $15 MANDATORY self-install kit? Seem like they are trying to charge you an installation charge regardless of if you have a tech install or self-install.
Like when you buy your own TIVO cable Box and they charge you the same thing as renting a Cablebox as an ' outlet fee' I was not very happy about that. No, I was picking up the cable box at the local office and they wanted $15 for the self install kit. If they shipped it, they wanted $30( $15 for kit and $15 for shipping). The guy was saying that the self install kit included the box and there was no way to receive the cablebox without receiving the self-install kit. I don't know how new this policy is or if its an experimental betta but it took me by surprised. I search the internet and there was a Reddit post and I think a blog about this happening to other people as well. (Off Topic) In regards to the requiring a tech to come out if you did not have service in over a year.
They claim they can't trust the line, if the tech comes out and find the lines to require replacement, they won't send people to replace the lines if the service is able to limp by using boosters, etc. So I don't know what is the point of checking the lines if they won't replacement then if needed.
